For both the Mayoral and County Council elections on Thursday, 1st May, residents aged 18 and over and on the electoral role in South Cambridgeshire will be able to record one vote for their preferred candidate in both elections (aka first-past-the-post).

These are the deadlines ahead of polling day on 1st May:

Photo ID

If voting in person at Hatley village hall, you must take and present your photo ID (although you do not have to take your polling card).

There are several types of identification – to find out more or to apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate, use this link to the Electoral Commission’s website: voting-and-elections/voter-id.

Liz Watts, Chief Executive and Elections Returning Officer at South Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “These elections will affect all residents in the South Cambs area.

“Every vote counts, so make sure you are ready to take part on polling day. Do make a note of the key dates above and act now if any of them apply to you so you can cast your vote come 1st May.

“Don’t forget you need photo ID to vote and that only specific forms of ID are accepted. These can be found here: How to vote / photo ID you’ll need. If you don’t have voter ID we can help – but make sure you apply in time.”
